LIONS Club inaugural ‘Eye Ball’ scheduled for Nov. 7

For the first time ever, the Sanibel-Captiva LIONS Club, a non-profit organization, will be hosting an "Eye Ball." The inaugural Eye Ball, a major fundraising event, will be an evening of dinner, dancing and fun and is set for Friday, Nov. 7, from 6 p.m. 9 p.m. at the Sanibel Community House.

Open to the public, this dinner and dance will benefit the local LIONS Club, which uses proceeds from its fund-raising events to help the local community. From supporting sight-based services, providing academic scholarships and various other local community needs, LIONS members work hard year round with unmatched energy to raise money for local charities.

All monies raised by the LIONS Club of Sanibel and Captiva stay local; in 2013 over $75,000 was raised and donated back to select beneficiaries.

Guests of the Eye Ball will see and be seen while they dance the night away to live entertainment by the hugely popular band Uptown Express. As a special treat, the electrifying tunes will be accompanied by complimentary dance lessons by David Flory of the Island Ballroom. All of the dancing and excitement is sure to generate guests' appetites, which will be pleasantly pleased with the delicious dinner offerings provided by one of Sanibel's favorite restaurants, Cip's Place.

"We are so thrilled to put on this exciting evening of dinner and dancing. The LIONS work hard to support our local community but this particular event will allow the public to see that our efforts are enjoyable as much as they are beneficial. We can't wait to see our guests in their 'island formal' attire as they dance the night away for a great cause," said Bruce Cochrane, the club's president.

The LIONS Club Eye Ball has been made possible by the support of generous local businesses, such as Tween Waters, a top level 'Green Eyes' sponsor. There are also blue, hazel and brown eyed sponsorship levels. Additional sponsorships are still available, as well as event tickets, which are on sale for $60 and going quickly. For more information or to reserve your seat at the first annual LIONS Club Eye Ball, contact event co-chair Debi Almeida at (239) 472-7222. Or, if you wish to pick up tickets while out and about on the island stop by Island Graphics, located at 666 Periwinkle Way, or Hillgate Communications in the Bailey's Center.
