Mark the calendar for Valentine's weekend.

The Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Art & Craft Fair returns Feb. 14-15. Organizers of the 32nd annual fair expect some 7,000 visitors to flood the grounds of the Sanibel Community House. The juried show offers more than 100 artists and crafters, exhibitors, cultural jewelers and booths and activities relating to health, life enrichment and disaster relief education.

Apparel with designs by icon/artists Myra Roberts and Ikki Matsumoto will also be available for purchase.

The fair is Rotary's largest fundraiser, and an island tradition dating to the 1980s, event chair Scot Congress said. Proceeds are used for island education, outreach and select Rotary works, and in clean water, sanitation, disease eradication and conflict resolution throughout the world. Island Rotary also funds world programs to provide wheelchairs, erase poverty and promote vocational training. Miracles in Action in Guatemala is one of those programs serving the impoverished in the Central American country. Representatives with the group and other beneficiaries like coffee growers will be at the fair.

There will also be auctions of some 100 donor goods, merchandise and activities. Congress Jewelers is the Gold Sponsor.

"Over 7,000 (fair visitors) in two days is both nerve-wrecking and exciting," Congress said. "We anticipate a great event, continuing the tradition of Rotary."

Rotary is an international organization with some 1.2 million members in 168 countries. The Sanibel-Captiva chapter is more than 70 members. The group meets Fridays at the Dunes Golf & Tennis Club. New members are welcomed to the 7 a.m. meetings.

Rotary Art & Craft Fair hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. A $5 donation is requested. The Sanibel Community House is at 2173 Periwinkle. Drivers will be directed to parking.
