On Sunday, March 29 at 5 p.m., Sanibel Community Church will feature John Trautwein, former professional baseball player with the Montreal Expos and Boston Red Sox.

In October of 2010, John and Susie Trautwein suffered the tragic loss of their 15 year old son, Will, who took his own life in his bedroom, while his loving and un-suspecting family was sleeping just a few feet away.

Will, a wonderful boy, was a freshman at Northview High School, and his death devastated not only the Trautweins, but the entire community.

The Trautweins quickly learned the cold hard truth about teenage suicide, as well as the mental illnesses like depression that are leading kids to suicide at an alarming rate in America.

As a result, John and Susie started a nonprofit organization called, "The Will to Live Foundation."

According to Trautwein, "The purpose of the organization is to work closely with the teens of our communities to not only help spread the message of teen suicide awareness but also help these teens recognize the wonderful bonds of friendship we call life teammate bonds that help each other find the good in life."

John and Susie travel across the country, making more than 100 presentations each year to parents and kids, providing education and encouragement.

Love and hope are central to their message.

With the release of John's new book, "Will to Live," the Trautweins hope the message of suicide awareness, mental health issues, hope and love will reach families worldwide.

John Trautwein will be presenting to the teens of the community on Sunday morning in the H2O youth center on the campus of Sanibel Community Church at 10:45 a.m.

Sunday evening, parents and teens are invited to join John at 5 p.m. in the main sanctuary for his presentation, as well as a time for questions.

Childcare for children ages infant through 10 years old will be provided during the presentation.

Refreshments will be served following the presentation, with the opportunity to get a signed copy of John's book.

Sanibel Community Church is located at 1740 Periwinkle Way (next to Jerry's Market). For more information call 472-2684 or visit the web at www.sanibelchurch.com.
