Lois Marjorie Smith

Lois Marjorie Smith 79, of Sanibel, FL passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on October 31, 2015. She was born on September 14, 1936 in Kincardine, Ontario, a daughter of Rev. Harold and Elizabeth Balsdon.

She attended high school in Kitchener, Ontario and university in London, Ontario at the University of Western Ontario. Lois was very active in volunteer work with hospitals, schools, and churches in the numerous communities in which she lived during her married years. She enjoyed competitive curling, golf, bridge, and often accompanied her husband to Alaska on fishing trips.

Lois discovered Sanibel in the early 1980s and fell in love with the island and eventually became a permanent resident. She will be remembered for her courage, her grace and her devotion to her family. She is at peace but will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her husband Ley, children, Steven, Scott and Susan, grandchildren, Kristen, Carter, Sean, Kelly, Bryan, Haydn, Lauren, and Cameron, and a brother, Brian Balsdon.
