A celebration will be held later this month to raise money for F.I.S.H., so the organization can continue to provide assistance through food programs, island based services, social services all while offering helping hands.

F.I.S.H. President and CEO Maggie Feiner said the annual event has been very successful for the organization due to the great community support.

"It is the main opportunity for us to fund programs," she said.

Jim Sprankle’s great blue heron and fish is among the live auction items for the annual Go F.I.S.H. event, which is scheduled for Feb. 28.

The third annual Go F.I.S.H. will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, at The Sanctuary Golf Club with an island theme resembling Gilligan's Island.

F.I.S.H. Director of Operations and Grants Maggie Goldsmith said they wanted a theme that would resonate with the island.

The event will include a sit down dinner with special fun things occurring throughout the evening.

The invitations have been mailed. Feiner said anyone interested in attending the event can call F.I.S.H. and ask for herself or Goldsmith at (239) 472-4775.

"It's a celebration of what the agency is and does for the community," Goldsmith said of the evening that is focused on raising awareness. "F.I.S.H. is here for everyone."

The event will include seven live auction items.

"I'm really pleased with what we have," Goldsmith said.

One of the auction items includes a Red Rock Ranch Vacation Experience in Jackson Hole, WY. The six-night stay is for two adults and includes lodging, meals, horseback riding and riding instruction, guided hiking, fly fishing clinic, fishing and all ranch amenities. The ranch is located in the Bridger-Teton National Forest near Jackson Hole at 7,250 feet.

A limited edition lithograph hand-signed "Secrets" by artist Norman Rockwell is another item. The cover illustration is for the March 21, 1942 issue of The Saturday Evening Post.

A W South Beach hotel package is also up for bid. The package includes a two-night stay for two adults at a beach front view condo at W South Beach, which is located along South Beach.

A private winery tour and reserve tasting at Cast Wines, Geysesrville, as well as a six-course dinner with wine pairings is among the silent auction items for Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa. The package includes a three-night stay with airfare for two.

A boatload of wine with Luc Century glasses is another item up for grabs. The package includes two red and two white wines, with a one-of-a-kind design etched wine glasses by Century.

A private dinner at Sweet Melissa's Cafe for up to six people is another item. The menu will be designed by Chef Melissa Talmage and the winning bidder.

"Being in the restaurant business it is easy to support the Food Pantry at F.I.S.H., but what we are really doing is uprooting all the programs they offer from programs, to support the elderly, to emergency preparedness," Talmage said. "It is an amazing comprehensive set of programs that can serve almost anyone on the island. We are blessed to have such an organization with such a professional staff that we can depend on in times of need."

The last item, which Feiner said is the highlight of them all, is Jim Sprankle's great blue heron and fish piece of art.

"He's an incredible human being," Feiner said of Sprankle.

She said if individual's cannot attend the celebration, they are welcome to call F.I.S.H. to place a bid on a particular item.

In addition to the auction items, attendees will also have 23 giving opportunities based on the various programs F.I.S.H. offers, such as Meals by F.I.S.H., healthcare assistance, emergency rent and utilities, backpack program, food pantry, emergency medical and dental and scholarship.
