Onward and upward?

To the editor:

I marvel to see our very own proclaimed local resident, Chauncey Goss, Sanibel City Councilman elected March 2015 - March 2019, is now running for the anticipated upcoming vacancy in the Florida Congressional District 19.

Well, let's look at Mr. Goss's primary achievements over the past 15-months of serving the residents of Sanibel Island. I personally hold no animosity against Mr. Goss, but respectfully ask, has he found the men's room in such a short tenure? As to Mr. Goss's achievements that warrant higher elected office for the rest of the state of Florida and the country at large? Oh yes, he voted for the new Doc Ford's restaurant location, a chain restaurant, against city code restrictions on prohibiting chain restaurants. No less in a natural but unsanctioned government designated preserve, against the will of the majority of residents, but favored by one of the owners Marty Harrity, a fellow Sanibel city councilman and the remainder of the city council who are "all" local entrepreneur, business- owner, islanders. Hooray for local control. Congrats' Mr. Goss, if successful in your election to Congress. You'll fit in quite comfortably with the good ol boys and girls club therein, another feather in the cap of big business..."
