Disgusted in Bonita

August 1, 2016

To the editor:

Our Governor Scott will ultimately be given credit in history for destroying the South Florida Tourism industry and ecosystem. It will be by poisoning the environment but there will be many that share the blame. I thought just our past legislators were just not pulling their weight. Many weren't but many were. When I recently spoke with Representative Caldwell he told me that he has been waiting since he was 3 for the Feds to come though on their end. Congressmen Clawson has been out there fighting at every chance. Well, now South Florida faces an unprecedented man-made ecological disaster comparable to the BP Oil spill, environmentally and economically. But do you see the federal government stepping in to help like the other man-made disaster? Do you even see any of them down here to check out the disaster? As matter of fact, Speaker of the House Ryan ignored the request of Florida representatives. They went on a long summer break and left the problem on the floor without dealing with it. The fact that the summer is when the disaster will get worse does not seem to bother the members of our leadership.

Senator Nelson has been fighting as well. But it would seem that both Senate and Congress can turn their heads on the economical and ecological disasters in South Florida.

I urge all Americans to call Speaker of the House Ryan and ask him, "Why are you ignoring South Florida's economic and environmental disaster?"

Ask him to tell the EPA to not approve raising levels of toxic chemicals in Florida!

His Washington Office number is 1-202-225-0600
