This year the community will have the opportunity to help the Sanibel Sea School name its new fleet of three vans during the annual Luminary Holiday Stroll, which will be held on Friday, Dec. 1.

The 33rd annual Luminary Festival is hosted by the Sanibel and Captiva Chamber of Commerce and includes numerous businesses and organizations along Periwinkle Way who participate in the festivities.

Sanibel Sea School Director of Development Chrissy Basturk said they are asking people to stop by the Sanibel Sea School Friday night and vote for their favorite names for their three new vans.

The Sanibel Sea School parking lot will be converted into a safe area for the kids to participate in kid actives, as well an opportunity to watch a surfing video.

The evening will include grilled food, Point Ybel Brewing Company craft beer. Mulled wine will also be served.

In addition, Executive Director Dr. Bruce Neill will lead an ocean bingo at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., which is open to all ages.

Although the festival will be held in the parking lot, 455 Periwinkle Way, the Ocean Tribe Outfitters store will also be accessible. Basturk said they will have a flash sale, all retail items 10 percent off, for some holiday shopping.

"It's a fun, festive event and we get to visit with neighbors and friends," she said. "It gives us a chance to showcase what we have to offer while spending time with people."
