Maybe next year

December 13, 2017
Island Reporter, Captiva Current, Sanibel-Captiva Islander

To the editor:

As seasonal residents on Sanibel, we were so happy to read in the recent Islander that Sanibel will be having its own Boat Parade of Lights. Sadly, shortly after reading the article, we were informed that it had already been cancelled. We have tried going to Fort Myers Beach, but as everyone knows, the traffic is ridiculous and the parking is even worse. Last year was so bad that we were still sitting in traffic on the bridge as some boats were passing beneath us. What a mess. This inaugural Shell Harbor Boat Parade of Lights is exactly what we had been looking for!! We had hoped that this event would be the first of many to come. Whatever the reason for it being cancelled, it is our desire that Sanibel re-visits the idea and holds it in 2018.
