Teen charged in auto burglaries

The Cape Coral Police Department announced this morning that Dysean Bryant, 17, faces two counts of vehicle burglary after being identified from surveillance video provided by the victim and aired on local media.

On Dec. 26, at approximately 11 a.m., the CCPD responded to the 400 block of Northeast 2nd Ave., in reference to a past occurred vehicle burglary. The victim said she was informed by her neighbors that overnight between Dec. 24 and Dec. 25, unknown suspects burglarized multiple vehicles in the neighborhood. She reported that she did not have anything stolen from her vehicles, but she checked her cameras and discovered that at 1:30 a.m. Dec. 25, two apparent teenage males entered her vehicle through the front passenger door. One male that entered the door and sat in the vehicle was described as a tall, thin, black male wearing a "Raptors" hooded sweatshirt. The male accompanying him was described as a thin white male, wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a backpack. The suspects entered a second car in the driveway also, but did not take anything from either vehicle, the victim reported.

The video surveillance was given to the Cape Coral Police Department by the victim, and was also aired on local news broadcasts. The assigned detective with the CCPD Property Unit reviewed the footage, and recognized one of the suspects (the one in the "Raptors" hoodie) as Dysean Bryant from prior police contacts. The white male accomplice is not yet identified.

The report states that Bryant had already been arrested by the CCPD on Dec. 25 at approximately 5 a.m. for violation of probation as well as loitering/prowling at the 3600 block of Tropicana Parkway, West, only about 3.5 hours after the vehicle burglary. According to the officer who was on scene for this arrest, Bryant was wearing the same Raptors sweatshirt seen in the surveillance video.

Bryant was additionally charged with two counts of unoccupied burglary of a conveyance (vehicle burglary).
