Coviello selected for Small Business Panel at U.S. Conference of Mayors

Cape Coral Mayor Joe Coviello will participate on a small business and entrepreneurship panel at the United States Conference of Mayors' 86thWinter Meeting, which will take place Jan. 24-26 in Washington, D.C.

Coviello was selected based on his background as a business consultant. The panel will lead a discussion about small business and entrepreneurship development during a working session on Friday, Jan. 26.

The annual conference brings together mayors, city officials, business council members and federal agency representatives to discuss an array of issues affecting cities across the country including; affordable housing, preparing for disasters, infrastructure needs and new energy technologies and partnerships.

The mayor is also scheduled to meet with Sen. Bill Nelson and Sen. Marco Rubio's staff during the three-day event. They will discuss the impact of Lake Okeechobee releases, economic development issues, the reauthorization of National Flood Insurance Program and other legislative issues affecting Cape Coral. The United States Conference of Mayors is the official non-partisan organization of cities with a population of 30,000 or more. The Conference holds its Winter meeting in January in Washington, D.C. and an annual meeting in June in a different U.S. city.

Hundreds of mayors are expected to attend this year's Winter meeting, which will be presided over by New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu.
