Roine Paige Carlson

Roine Paige Carlson, 70, passed away suddenly on May 15, 2018. In the last year he split his time between Ft. Myers and DeLand, Florida caring for his ailing wife of 49 years, until her passing on February 22, 2018.

Ron was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania on November 30, 1947 to John and Signe Carlson. He joined the Coast Guard and served his country from 1965 1969, stationed in both Juno, Alaska and Boston, Massachusetts. He met his wife, Maria de Lourdes Carlson, on a blind date in Boston, and so began their 49 year adventure together. Through the years, they lived in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Kansas, Missouri, Mexico City, Mexico, Minnesota, until finally calling Fort Myers, Florida home.

Ron worked for several airlines, including Allied Aviation, Midway, and Frontier Airlines. He also worked for a brief period as a proofreader for a large newspaper in Mexico City, Mexico in the mid-70s.

Ron spent the last 30 years of his working career with the United States Postal Service on Sanibel Island, Florida. He retired from the United States Postal Service in 2016 after with 30 years of dedicated service. Ron took much pride in his daily work and in the relationships he shared with his coworkers and the residents of Sanibel Island.

Ron enjoyed traveling, line dancing, succulent gardening, long-distance walking, bicycling, music, cooking, and movies. All who knew Ron will miss his laughter, his infectious personality, and warm eyes, and kind smile.

Ron will be remembered as a brother, husband, father, grandfather, good friend, hard worker, and confidant. He is survived by his daughter Natasha Watts (Mark) DeLand, Florida, Son Nathan Carlson (Kara) Bethlehem, New Hampshire, and his four grandchildren Baylor, Grace, Maya, and Nicholas. He is also survived by his sister, Elin Mark (Harry) Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and their children, Diane, David, Dale, and Donna. Ron is also survived by his nieces and nephews Cindy Driscoll, Karen Ragan, James Stewart and their children and grandchildren in Western Pennsylvania.
