ABWA presents next Women in Leadership Speaker Series event

November 7, 2018
Island Reporter, Captiva Current, Sanibel-Captiva Islander

The Sanibel Captiva Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association will host its monthly luncheon on Nov. 27, with the next guest in its Women in Leadership Speaker Series.

Sandra Stilwell Youngquist, chief executive officer and owner of Stilwell Enterprises & Restaurant Group and president of the SWFL Children's Charities, will present "Balancing Act - Broadening Your Reach to Others While Keeping Your Focus."

Stilwell's signature advice, "Be honest and true in all you do," reflects her dual commitment to business success and community service. Stilwell launched her first venture at 17, building from an entrepreneurial bank cleaning business to her true calling, hospitality. Now with an inn, shopping centers and six restaurants, including the national award-winning Key Lime Bistro on Captiva, she credits her success to faith and a tenacious work ethic.

In community service, Stilwell has an equally impressive resume. Under her leadership, SWFL Children's Charities presents the SWFL Food & Wine Fest, which raised $2.9 million for pediatric health care last year. She also serves on the board of directors of Hope Hospice, past board chair for the PACE Center for Girls, board of trustees for Hodges University, is on advisory boards and more.

"Sandy makes it look easy, but she promises to candidly examine the challenges we all face balancing our most important priorities," Gloria Garrett, president of the island chapter, said. "Sandy's recent laureate award from Junior Achievement of SWFL sums it all up; JA acknowledges role models like Sandy, who inspire best practices in both entrepreneurship and business ethics."

The chapter meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Sundial Beach Resort & Spa, at 1451 Middle Gulf Drive, Sanibel. Networking starts at 11:30 a.m., with lunch and a speaker from noon to 1 p.m. The cost is $20 per person. The meetings are open to the public.

To RSVP, email info@ABWASanibelCaptiva.org or register online at Eventbrite.
