First-ever PTA fundraiser a success

November 21, 2018

To the editor:

The epic Adults Night Out on Nov. 10 began with a "piano keyboard" walkway through the doors of the beautified Great Hall of The Community House on Sanibel, with tables adorned with stunning floral arrangements of hydrangeas and roses. Free beverages for the cocktail hour accompanied the most delicious hors d'oeuvre throughout the night.

Then, a full three-hour straight amazing performance by Felix and Fingers Dueling Pianos' Larry Klass and Leon Novembre! In addition, buckets of sand of varying values were "picked and purchased" in order to find a mystery prize itself in the sand; or, there was a number to match with a prize, which could have been from jewelry to Disney tickets!

This incredible fundraising event would not have been as successful without the following to acknowledge and thank. First, The Sanibel School PTA board and all of its directors: Janka Varmuza, Becky Mulka, Vanessa Flynt, Deb Ames, Chris Demaras, Holly Nuckolls, Penny Breece, Jennifer Hall and Dr. Kielborn.

Next, grateful for the wonderful Sanibel Catering Company by Bailey's; The Community House and its event manager, Robbie Gisewhite; The Island Reporter and Sanibel-Captiva Islander; Sanibel Police Department, Cpl. Kory McCloughen; and the Sanibel Captiva Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association.

Special thanks to our very generous sponsors, Enviromow (Deb and Eric Ames) and Tamara K. "TK" Christensen/Karraffa Zakutansky Foundation.

And last, but not least, all of our amazing donated gift baskets/silent auction donors: Barkley Circle Dentistry for Children; Billy's Segway Tours; BodyForceBrands.com; Butterfly Beach; Eager Beaver Car Wash; TK Christianson; Flip-Flop Bling; Fromages.com; Green Eyed Lady Designs (Terri Lynn); Greg Demaras; Jessica Ann Art; Jordon's Outdoor Fun; KMGems.com; Lighthouse Waterfront Restaurant; Mabelin Gonzalez Hand Made Jewelry; Matter Brothers; Matter Brothers Furniture; Men Pa'w Hot Sauce; One Putt Designs; Organic Spa Nail Bar; Otterbox; Penny Breece Cakes; Picaboo; Sanibel PTA Disney Points of Lights Program; South Seas Island Resort; Susan Matter; Swirley Bracelets; Team Moose Animal Rescue; Tiles by the Sea; and The Veranda.

It was an incredible time that was had by all, with multiple requests for an encore for next year! So, Sanibel - let's make that happen!

Thanks for the memories!
