Free deck talks program returns at Tarpon Bay Explorers

After a two-year hiatus, the free deck talks are returning at Tarpon Bay Explorers, providing a no-cost fun option for visitors of the J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel.

"We had to pause our deck talk program as a result of construction that was happening in our parking lot," Adam Sauerland, program and education manager, said. "The program was designed to help keep visitors entertained before afternoon eco-trips, but some people would come just to learn about wildlife they may be interested in. But, it was very difficult to give a proper presentation with an orchestra of power tools in the background."

Deck talks consist of a 20-30-minute in-depth presentation on a variety of wildlife species. Topics include: dolphins, sharks, sea turtles, alligators and the Calusa Indians. They are held daily on Monday through Friday at 12:45 p.m. next to the dock between SCCF's Marine Lab and the TBE gift shop.
